Woodridge families struggling with childcare costs can apply for up to $1,200 through a joint program run by the Woodridge Police Department and the Woodridge Park District.

The Childcare Financial Assistance Program provides annual funding to help qualifying families offset costs for before- and after-school care, daycare, summer camps, and educational or recreational youth enrichment programs. Funding is distributed first-come, first-served until exhausted, according to the village's Summer 2026 Focus Newsletter. The village has not published the total amount available for 2026.

The program is one of three assistance options detailed in the Woodridge Park District Financial Assistance Manual.

In summer 2025, the subsidy fund helped the West Suburban Community Pantry expand its Cooking and Art Camp from 12 students to 70 by funding a venue rental at Downers Grove South High School, according to the village's July 25, 2025 e-newsletter.

How to apply:

  • For Kidz Squad before- and after-school care through the Park District, submit requests in person at the Woodridge Park District ARC or Fred C. Hohnke Community Center.
  • For all other programs, contact Police Chief Tom Stefanson at [email protected].
  • More information is available under the Programs & Information tab on the Woodridge Police Department section of woodridgeil.gov.

No application deadline has been announced. The village says funding will be awarded until all funds have been distributed.
