Parking lots at three Woodridge parks and pathways at seven or more others will close for up to 48 hours starting the week of Monday, July 20, as crews crack-fill and sealcoat aging asphalt across the park district.
The Woodridge Park District announced Sunday, July 13, that contracted maintenance will begin at the parking lots at Echo Point Park, Falconridge Park, and Forest Glen Park. Pathways at Castaldo Park, Hawthorne Hill Woods, Ide's Grove East Park, Mending Wall Park, Sunnydale Park, Windy Point Park, and additional segments throughout the district are also on the schedule.
Each surface will be closed 24 to 48 hours while the sealcoat dries, according to the district's announcement. The district has not published a day-by-day schedule showing which parks close on which dates.
What the work includes
The scope goes beyond a simple seal. Crews will crack-fill, patch, sealcoat, and re-stripe the parking lots and paths, the district said on its 2026 Capital Projects page. The goal is to extend the life of existing pavement and keep surfaces safe for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers.
Part of a larger capital year
The sealcoating is one piece of the Woodridge Park District's 2026 Capital Development, Replacement, and Accessibility Improvement Projects. Other work underway this year includes playground replacements at Falconridge Park, Westminster Park, and Windy Point Park, plus full asphalt resurfacing — milling, paving, and striping — at Castaldo Park, Cypress Cove, Hobson Corner Park, Orchard Hill Park, and other locations. Park improvements at Ide's Grove East and Summerhill Parks are also on the 2026 list.
No contract value for the asphalt maintenance has been published in available district documents.
How to plan around the closures
The district did not specify which parks will close on which days during the week of July 20–25. Residents who rely on specific parking lots or paths should check woodridgeparks.org for updates or call the district at (630) 353-3300.
Echo Point Park, at 8115 Woodridge Drive, is among the first lots affected; its shelter and picnic area remain accessible on foot during the closure.
