Downers Grove homeowners would pay about $24 more a year in Village property taxes under a proposed budget released Oct. 26.

The Village's FY2027 budget proposal calls for a 3% property tax levy increase that would bring the Village portion of a typical residential tax bill to roughly $820. The general fund would carry $75.9 million in revenues against $75.1 million in expenses.

$35.5 million for infrastructure

Streets get the largest share. The budget puts $10.4 million toward road work, followed by $10.1 million for water systems, $7.6 million for stormwater improvements and $3.9 million for sidewalks. Additional funding covers Village facilities, traffic systems and parking.

Another $6.6 million would advance the Village's Guiding DG planning initiatives. That includes $4.6 million for streetscape improvements in downtown Downers Grove and the Fairview Focus District, $1.3 million for active transportation improvements and $660,000 for the Village's Environmental Sustainability Plan.

In all, the proposed budget directs $35.5 million toward infrastructure and $6.6 million toward long-range planning priorities the Village has identified through its Guiding DG process.
