Democratic incumbents in the three state House districts that cover Downers Grove, Woodridge and Westmont each won their races on Tuesday, Nov. 3, according to unofficial results.
State Reps. Margaret DeLaRosa, Martha Deuter and Anne Stava all defeated Republican challengers by wide margins, Shaw Local reported. Shaw Local spells the District 81 incumbent's first name "Anna"; other outlets use "Anne." The results were unofficial, with about 53% of ballots tallied across DuPage County.
District 42: DeLaRosa wins first election to seat
DeLaRosa, who was appointed to the District 42 seat in October 2025 to replace Terra Costa Howard, won her first election to the seat. She received 28,199 votes to 15,137 for Republican Stephanie Trussell, according to unofficial results.
DeLaRosa, a former Glenbard District 87 school board member, campaigned on expanding property tax relief for seniors and lowering energy costs. Trussell, who was Darren Bailey's running mate in his unsuccessful 2022 gubernatorial campaign, ran on stemming the number of people leaving Illinois over high taxes, cost of living, job market concerns, crime and what she called a failing education system.
District 42 includes portions of Downers Grove, Glen Ellyn, Lisle, Lombard and Wheaton.
District 45: Deuter defeats Westmont trustee
Deuter, a former Elmhurst City Council member elected to the legislature in 2024, turned back a challenge from Republican Gina Parrilli, a Westmont village trustee. Deuter captured 24,637 votes to 15,138 for Parrilli, according to unofficial results.
District 45 includes portions of Downers Grove, Westmont, Clarendon Hills, Elmhurst, Hinsdale, Lombard, Oak Brook, Oakbrook Terrace, Villa Park, Addison and Willowbrook.
District 81: Stava returns to Springfield
Stava defeated Republican Laura Hois, receiving 28,783 votes to 15,246 for Hois, according to unofficial results. Hois also challenged Stava in 2020.
Shaw Local described the win as Stava's fifth term. NCTV17 reported it as her fourth term.
District 81 includes portions of Downers Grove, Woodridge, Westmont, Naperville, Lisle and Darien.
All results remain unofficial. The DuPage County Clerk's election results website was unavailable on Nov. 4.
Across DuPage County, Democrats also flipped the District 47 seat previously held by retiring Republican Amy Grant, with Erica Bray-Parker defeating Robert Vrankovich, according to The Daily Line.
