Woodridge Park District will open the finished Jubilee Point Park with a ribbon cutting Saturday, Oct. 31, from 10 a.m. to noon.
The 42.5-acre park at Woodridge Drive and 71st Street caps a multiyear development effort that ran more than $3.5 million for Phase 2 construction alone. The grand opening appears on the board of commissioners' Tuesday, Sept. 15, meeting agenda at the Fred C. Hohnke Community Center.
Years in the making
The park district broke ground on Phase 2 on June 4, 2025, in a ceremony attended by State Senators John Curran and Rachel Ventura, along with village and park district staff. Construction was originally slated to wrap in 2025, but a prolonged local building permitting review pushed the start date from February to June of that year, according to the park district's project page.
In January 2025, the board approved a $3,534,454 contract with Schwartz Construction Group for Phase 2 construction. Separate purchases added $157,570 for a park shelter and $273,087 for playground equipment and a multi-sport court from Kompan, according to board meeting minutes.
The project drew $600,000 in state Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) grant funds and a $225,000 grant from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.
The finished park features a playground, two pickleball courts, a multi-sport court for basketball, futsal and volleyball, community garden plots, walking and biking trails, a picnic grove with a large shelter and open green space.
Shelter and garden-plot rentals start in 2027.
What else is on the agenda
Beyond the grand opening announcement, the Sept. 15 board agenda lists several discussion items under the executive director's report: a draft 2026–2030 Strategic Master Plan, a proposed second amendment to the intergovernmental agreement with Woodridge School District 68 for shared use and maintenance of buildings and sites, and a leadership team call for applications. No details on the master plan or the IGA amendment have been released publicly.
The consent agenda includes $133,970 in additional construction payouts to Schwartz Construction Group, $1,989 in Phase 2 final design fees and $5,470 for challenge-course design services at Jubilee Point Park. Contracts for natural-area brush removal, fall tree removals, prescribed burns and custodial services at the ARC facility are also up for approval.
