More than 2,700 students across Woodridge School District 68's seven schools will walk through their doors Wednesday, Aug. 19, for the first day of the 2026-27 school year.

It's a half-day. Elementary students dismiss at 11:40 a.m.; Thomas Jefferson Junior High lets out at 11:55 a.m.

The week is already in motion. Teachers reported Monday, Aug. 17, for the first of two institute days, spending the day in district inservice and building planning meetings from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at their respective schools, according to the district's official calendar.

Tuesday, Aug. 18, brings an Opening Day Ceremony for staff, also running 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. For families, the key window is Tuesday afternoon: the district is holding an Open House and Orientation from 2 to 3:30 p.m., giving parents and students a chance to visit classrooms and meet teachers before the first bell.

Board meets Monday evening

The SD 68 Board of Education meets Monday, Aug. 17, at 7:30 p.m. at the district's administrative offices, 7925 Janes Ave. in Woodridge. It is the first board meeting of the new school year. No agenda was publicly available as of Monday morning; families can check woodridge68.org for updates.

What families still need to do

School supply lists are posted at teacherlists.com/districts/6967. The district's registration page has information on residency requirements, health forms, student fees and important dates for new and returning families.

The district noted earlier this summer that nearly 1,100 of its students come from families that struggle to afford school supplies, according to a Village of Woodridge newsletter. A community supply drive ran through Aug. 6; families still in need can contact the district at (630) 795-6800.
