Woodridge's biggest park opens to the public on Saturday, Oct. 31, after more than a year of construction and a four-month permitting delay.

Jubilee Point Park, a 42.5-acre site at 7101 Woodridge Drive, is the largest park in the Woodridge Park District's system. The grand opening celebration runs from 10 a.m. to noon and will feature remarks from community leaders, a ceremonial ribbon cutting, a DJ, treats and family-friendly activities, according to a park district press release.

The first 100 guests will receive a commemorative gift. Additional prizes go to visitors who take part in activities throughout the park.

About 15 of the park's 42.5 acres have been developed in the initial phase. Amenities include a destination playground, pickleball courts, a multi-sport court for basketball and futsal, baggo courts, ping pong tables, walking and biking trails, a community garden and a reservable picnic pavilion. Multi-use paths connect the park to adjacent neighborhoods, the Village's municipal complex and Jefferson Jr. High School.

"We are incredibly proud of this flagship community park and the vision that made it possible …" Executive Director Jenny Knitter said in the announcement.

The park had a ceremonial groundbreaking on June 4, 2025, with Woodridge Park District and Village staff, elected officials and State Senators John Curran and Rachel Ventura in attendance. Construction by Schwartz Construction was supposed to begin in February 2025, but a prolonged local building permitting review pushed the start to June, according to the park district's development page. Wetter-than-normal conditions during summer 2026 slowed progress further.

The project received $600,000 from an Illinois Department of Natural Resources OSLAD grant and $225,000 from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.

Community garden plots will relocate to Jubilee Point Park as part of a future phase, with plot rentals opening in 2027. The park shelter will also become available for reservations that year.

The park remains closed until the ribbon cutting. Details are available at woodridgeparks.org.
