Woodridge residents interested in running for Village Trustee or Library Trustee can pick up filing packets starting Tuesday, Aug. 25, at Village Hall, 5 Plaza Drive.

The village announced the filing window in its Friday, Aug. 21, e-newsletter, marking the first concrete step toward the April 6, 2027, Consolidated General Election. Under Illinois election law, candidates also cannot begin circulating petitions for signatures until Aug. 25.

Completed nomination packets must be filed between Monday, Nov. 16, and Monday, Nov. 23, 2026. That gives prospective candidates about 12 weeks to gather signatures and paperwork.

The deadline is firm.

The village's e-newsletter did not specify how many trustee seats are on the ballot or which incumbents' terms expire in 2027. Mayor Gina Cunningham leads the current Village Board; Trustees Jennifer Anteliz and Joseph Kagann are among the sitting members, though it remains unclear whether their seats are among those up for election.

Residents considering a run may also want to look into the Woodridge Citizens Leadership Academy, a free program offering an inside look at village operations. It meets Monday nights from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Sept. 14 through Oct. 19. Interested residents can contact Andie Trucco at [email protected].

Village Hall will be temporarily closed Thursday, Aug. 27, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for an employee event but will reopen at 1 p.m. Prospective candidates should confirm office hours by calling 630-852-7000 before visiting.

The next Village Board meeting is Thursday, Sept. 3, at 7 p.m. in the Werch Board Room at 5 Plaza Drive.
