Every kid who auditions gets a role. That's been the deal at the Academy of Music and Art in Westmont for 36 productions, and it holds for number 37: The Addams Family Young@Part, coming to the stage in November.

The academy, located at 350 E. Ogden Ave., is inviting performers ages 7–17 to try out for the fall musical, regardless of experience. Free audition workshops begin Thursday, Sept. 10, with a beginner session at 6 p.m. and a returning-performers session at 7 p.m. Auditions follow on Tuesday, Sept. 15, and Thursday, Sept. 17.

"You don't need any special talents or previous theatre experience," Academy Director Chris Wilson said in the announcement. "Our goal is to help students build confidence, make new friends, and discover a love for performing in a positive, supportive environment."

The academy stages two musicals a year. Its spring 2026 production, Mary Poppins Jr., was the 35th, making this fall's show the 37th in a run that dates to 1990. Families from Downers Grove, Hinsdale, Clarendon Hills, Oak Brook, and Western Springs have participated over the years.

Rehearsals for The Addams Family Young@Part begin Tuesday, Sept. 22. Four performances are scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 19, through Sunday, Nov. 22.

Families can find registration details on the academy's fall musical page. The office is open Monday through Thursday, 2–8:30 p.m., and Saturday, 9:30 a.m.–1 p.m. The phone number is 630-654-8426.
