The Westmont Community Unit School District 201 Board of Education is set to formally adopt its fiscal year 2027 budget at a meeting Tuesday, Sept. 22, at Westmont Village Hall.

The vote, scheduled to follow a public hearing, caps a process that began when the board approved a tentative budget on Aug. 18. That draft has been available for public inspection since Aug. 19, according to the meeting agenda. A legal notice ran in the Suburban Life on July 23.

The budget covers July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027. No total dollar figure has been released.

The board's consent agenda includes a September expenditure report totaling $2,301,864.36 and ratification of August payroll at $568,045.66. Together, those items account for nearly $2.9 million in district spending headed for a single roll-call approval.

Also on the consent agenda: approval of salary compensation reports required by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) and the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF). State law requires districts to report administrator and teacher salary data to ISBE by Oct. 1. Districts must present the figures at a public board meeting before posting them on the district website.

Ronald O'Connor, the district's assistant superintendent of finance and human resources, oversees the budget process. The board approved a four-year contract for O'Connor on April 28, running through June 30, 2030.

Three personnel hires are on the consent agenda: Kristy Gablin as a long-term substitute English learner teacher at $260 per day, Michael Potsic as Westmont High School musical director with a $4,049 stipend and Connor Chase as a teaching assistant at $18.50 per hour.

The budget vote comes as the district prepares for a $68 million building bond referendum on the Nov. 3 general election ballot. If approved by voters, the bonds would fund a new school at the current C.E. Miller Elementary School site, replacing both J.T. Manning and C.E. Miller elementary buildings. The project would also add playground space, parking and drop-off zones. The district, which serves families in Westmont, Clarendon Hills and Downers Grove, scheduled a referendum informational session for Sept. 22 as well.

Tuesday's meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at 31 W. Quincy St. The next board meeting is Oct. 13 at 6:30 p.m. at Village Hall, preceded by another referendum information session at 5:30 p.m.
