DuPage County will spend nearly half a million dollars replacing LED traffic signal heads at intersections across the county, on roads some of which run through Downers Grove, Woodridge and Westmont.

The Transportation Committee advanced the $490,887 contract with H&H Electric Company at its Tuesday, Aug. 4 meeting, according to the committee's agenda on the county's Legistar portal. The contract was awarded as the lowest responsible bid. Specific intersections slated for upgrades were not listed in the agenda.

The committee, chaired by county board member Mary Ozog, also approved $280,000 in winter road maintenance contracts. Bonnell Industries will supply carbide plow blades and curb shoes for up to $200,000, while Monroe Truck Equipment will provide plow and spreader repair parts for up to $80,000. Both contracts take effect Aug. 15 and run through July 31, 2027, covering a full snow season.

In a separate action, the committee approved a Local Public Agency Agreement with the Illinois Department of Transportation for the Advanced Traffic Management System. The agreement coordinates design, operation and maintenance of the ATMS network, which manages signal timing and traffic flow on county and state roads. IDOT will bear the full cost.

The committee also closed a contract with Imperial Lubes & Supply after the supplier could not honor its pricing terms.

All items are committee recommendations that still require final approval from the full DuPage County Board. At prior meetings in 2026, Transportation Committee items have routinely passed on voice vote with all ayes, according to May 5 meeting minutes.
