The Downers Grove First United Methodist Church hosts its 20th annual Garden Walk on Saturday, July 11, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Five homeowners open their private gardens to the public, with all proceeds supporting two families experiencing homelessness through Bridge Communities, a DuPage County nonprofit that provides free transitional housing to more than 100 families each year.

Tickets cost $20 in advance or $25 on the day of the walk. Advance tickets are available online and at Anderson's Bookshop (112 Main St., Downers Grove), the church office (1032 Maple Ave.), Community Bank of Downers Grove (1111 Warren Ave.), The Growing Place in Naperville, and Phillip's Flowers and Gifts in Westmont. Tickets will also be on sale in the church parlor on Sunday, July 5, between services.

The Downtown Downers Grove Market, sponsored by the Indian Boundary YMCA, is open Saturday, July 4, from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Main Street Train Station, 5001 Main St., with more than 60 vendors and live music.
