Downers Grove North High School's Homecoming parade will roll through downtown Downers Grove on Friday, Sept. 25, starting at 3:15 p.m. near Prince Street Plaza.
The parade caps a week of morning activities in the school's Commons and follows a 2 p.m. Homecoming assembly in the Purple Gym, according to the school's announcement. Residents who live or work along the route should plan for street activity Friday afternoon.
Friday night: unbeaten Trojans host OPRF
The Trojans (5-0, 3-0 West Suburban Silver) host Oak Park-River Forest at 7:30 p.m. on Carstens Field. The game's theme is Purple Out.
DGN enters ranked No. 6 in On3's Illinois high school football Top 25 after a 51-0 win over Proviso West on Sept. 19. Oak Park-River Forest beat York 24-21 the same night, as Shaw Local reported, and enters at 3-2 overall.
Saturday: outdoor dance on Carstens Field
The Homecoming Dance runs from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, on Carstens Field. If weather forces a change, the dance moves inside to the Purple Gym.
Key details for students and parents:
- Doors open at 5:45 p.m. and close at 7 p.m. No one can get in after 7.
- Tickets must be purchased online in advance. They will not be sold at the door.
- Students enter through the north side of the Fieldhouse and need a current school ID to check in. Tickets are linked to each student's ID.
- Parking is available only in the Main Street lot. The west lot will not have access to check-in.
- Once a student leaves, there is no re-entry.
- Food trucks will be on site. The school will also provide light snacks and water.
