Fifty juried artists will line Main Street with paintings, glass, sculpture, handmade furniture and more when the Downers Grove Fine Arts Festival returns for its 49th year on Saturday, Sept. 12, and Sunday, Sept. 13.

Admission is free.

The outdoor event runs 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days, stretching from Maple to Curtiss streets and into Main Street Garden Park, according to a Facebook post promoting the festival. The Downtown Downers Grove Management Corp. organizes the event, and about 7,000 visitors are expected.

Work on display will span more than a dozen media, including photography, artisanal jewelry, ceramics, metalworking, fiber, mixed media, pottery and drawing, Patch reported.

Live music both days

Saturday's stage lineup: Phil Partynski at 10 a.m., Keithen Banks at noon, Scott Allen at 2:15 p.m. and Briley at 4 p.m. Sunday brings Luca Ruiz at 10:30 a.m., Tony Cortina at noon and John Crean at 2:30 p.m.

Kids' activities

A children's play area opens Saturday with face painting, balloon twisting and other activities. Exact hours for the kids' area have not been posted.

Artists to watch for

The juried roster includes glass artists Lyubov Abramov and Art & Sandy DePesa, furniture makers Christian Anderson and Mayolo Haro, sculptor Deana Bada Maloney, metalworkers Stephen Christena and Karlette Murray, and painters including Stephanee Ann and Channing Wilson.

Downtown market runs same morning

The Downtown Downers Grove Market also runs Saturday, Sept. 12, starting at 7 a.m. in the same downtown area, so early risers can browse produce before the art booths open at 10. More information is available at downtowndg.org.
